Jacqui Butterworth

Jacqui Butterworth, Australian-born realism artist, with a sprinkling of the fantastical, her oil paintings and murals blend the classic with the contemporary.

Jacqui's paintings often include the curious side of animals, such as a meerkat in a restaurant, a seagull sitting on a globe, or a lion driving a car. From Mannerism and the Baroque, to the Romantic and Symbolist movements, her 'no longer still' life paintings are incredibly cheeky and deeply moving.

Artwork Inspiration for Ashridge

Jaqui Butterworths mural depicts the branches of an oak tree—an homage to the one planted by a young Princess Victoria—growing cathedral-like through the Old Library's arched windows. Symbolising transformation and possibility, the oak represents Ashridge's growth and evolution, as well as its future potential. The branches extending into the library also highlight the house's close relationship with its grounds and environment.
