Our private Grade II* registered historic gardens are the finest surviving example of Humphry Repton's work, often referred to as his ‘Garden of Gardens.’ Dogs on leads welcome. Garden tickets can be bought in advance online to save on the ticket price, or in the Bakehouse. Please check our updates below for any upcoming closures before your visit.

Ashridge House is proud to be a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Partner Garden. RHS members enjoy free entry year-round. Free tickets can be booked online or by showing your membership at the Bakehouse.
No matter the season, the gardens offer something breathtaking—from rhododendrons and bluebells in spring to fiery foliage in autumn and snow-dusted paths in winter.

Located beside the garden entrance in the courtyard, The Bakehouse offers fresh bakes, coffee, and light lunches—perfect before or after a garden stroll. Garden tickets are also available to purchase here.
Designed in 1813 by famed landscape gardener Humphry Repton, Ashridge’s grounds feature formal beds, the Rose Garden, Monks’ Garden, and Italian Garden. The spirit of Repton’s original vision lives on in every pathway and planting.

Join our dedicated volunteer team and help preserve these historic gardens. Volunteers support planting, propagation, and events such as our annual Plant Fair.
Our gardens are managed to support biodiversity and sustainability including peat-free compost and rainwater recycling, historic water tanks used for irrigation, on-site beehives and Ashridge honey production, nesting boxes for bats and the Ice House roost, red Kites, now thriving here, nest in the trees. Every visit supports the conservation of these living, historic landscapes.
